To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

Some Days Are Just About Perfect

And yesterday was one of them. There was beautiful sunshine...a lovely breeze coming through open windows...a tidy home...a wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen...just the right music playing in the background...and good friends. A few years ago I started hosting a mom's group once a week. Last year the day changed weekly but we rarely missed one. This year we thought to make it a more set time and darned if I don't end up with stuff happening on Wednesday's all the stinking time! Lately I've had to miss a few and yesterday we were just getting back into the groove. I love hanging out with these Momma's and their little ones. Lots of little ones. Seven moms counting myself, one mother to be, and sixteen children all under the age of ten...actually Sam is ten and then the rest of them are all under the age of six.
We talk about this and that, share whatever we're crafting, go through each others stuff when we're cleaning out and decluttering our houses, kiss and hug and pass around babies and eat. Yesterday the food was exceptional. So exceptional that I had to grab a few quick pictures :-)
There was some kind of savory herb bread and delicious chocolate chip banana bread

Homemade rice pudding still warm from the oven, fruit nachos, and yummy chocolate chip cookies

And really stepping it up a notch was creamy smooth flan.

The fact that we could run around barefoot made for a great day too.

And then of course the cute factor of all those babies is off the chart.

There was coloring

Hat wearing

Baby loving

Pumpkin bucket wearing

It was hard to stay serious because there was just so many mommas ready to tickle and be silly.

It was such a fun day although a bit exhausting for the littlest one.
