To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

Don't You Just Hate It When...

You feel all of out of sorts for no good reason? That's been me today. Border line cranky...prone to be emotional.
I'm such a girl.
I did get the whole house swept and mopped so I figure that's something. Today was the twelfth and final day of Christmas and you know what that means. The decorations are going away. I am at once looking forward to the sense of almost barren-ness that inevitably comes after de-decorating and thinking I will miss the color. For a five dollar tree Oswald  has stayed quite spritely and still offers a sweet aroma.
Funny Sam moment:
At two separate points Claire and Sam had both been told to get rid of their chewing gum so they could eat. Both times both of them made as if to put the gum behind their ear. Now, our household may be a little crazy at times but never has behind the ear been an encouraged place for the placement of chewed chewing gum. Or non-chewed chewing gum for that matter. So the second time I wised up and asked where in the world that idea had come from. And wouldn't you know it, Claire said it's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (The book which Sam enjoyed so much that he got the movie for Christmas.) After I told them not to do that Sam just kind of did a cross between a snort and a hmpf and said, "TV is an influence isn't it?"
The kid is pretty darned insightful.
And, that friends, pretty much sums up all the excitement of today.

Glad to have a post from you. Are you drumming for donations or something? Doing a black out like wikipedia?

Anyway, if you were to fly the concorde, you'd be time traveling in another sense - it hasn't flown since 2003.

on a side note, my dad worked on the concorde back in the day.
