To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

Sixteen Things to Know About Sarah

16.)  You should know this upfront before anything else. She doesn't like ice cream.
I know! How weird is that?
15.)  She is a germaphobe. Like she has four different kinds of hand sanitizer in her purse germaphobe. Oddly
enough she is also the ring leader of the frog catching expeditions in our house. And, she will hold snakes
at the zoo. Cutting stuff up in biology? No problem. But touch your feet for any reason and she'll bathe you
         in a gallon of sanitizer.
14.)   She currently loves all things Paris, Audrey Hepburn and old black and white Sherlock Holmes movies.

13.)  She's also a fan of anything BBC Jane Austen. She has a favorite dance scene in the 1990 something
version of Emma that she wants as her first dance with her husband and bridal party. I hope she gets
        to do that!
12.)   She is smart but also has a pretty high standard academically speaking. She is a true student with a strong
         desire to always be learning.
11.)   She is a serious planner/scheduler/routine oriented person. She freely admits to laying in bed at night
and working through every possible scenario for whatever is the next day's 'main events.' And heaven
forbid you deviate from the plan/schedule/ routine.  (She might possibly have control issues :-)

10.)  Shopping with her or for her can be a nightmare. Not only does she fully embrace our modesty values
but she's also quite picky about how things feel and fit. She's not flashy at all and likes understated
solids. Patterns are rare and bright colors are evaluated on a case by case basis.
9.)    Her favorite food is mashed potatoes. Her favorite dessert is death by chocolate.
8.)    She is an amazing big sister and takes her responsibility as a role model for them pretty seriously. She also
         totally enjoys tormenting her brother.
7.)    She can sometimes take things too seriously and forgets to laugh at herself but she's getting better
at it. I think (I hope) she is coming to understand that she doesn't have to be perfect and that doing her
         best is enough.

6.)   She is strong and will face obstacles and problems head on. She may not like it but she'd rather usually
deal with whatever it is than ignore it.
5.)   She is very matter of fact and concrete. She's learning to appreciate poetic thinking though.
 4.)   She's fiercely loyal.
3.)   Even though she's growing up she can still get silly with the best of them.
2.)   Although it isn't her favorite thing to do she is pretty handy in the kitchen. She is quite capable of running
our home if I'm out of pocket for any reason.
 1.)   Today is her birthday!

Happy birthday Sarah-bella! You are a blessing and joy to our family. May you remain steadfast in faith...stand firm in the knowledge of His truth...loving Him above all else...and walk worthy of the call He has put on your life. Pursue the richness of godly wisdom and let His perfect will continue to form you into that virtuous woman whose worth is far above rubies.
