To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

Time Traveling

Whew! Last week we zigged zagged our way through out history...back to ancient civilations and in and out of the 2oth century. Sarah has been studying the Greek gods & goddesses and her class wrapped everything up with a fun Greek feast on Thursday complete with authentic Greek food, dancing, costumes and presentations. Sarah was Artemis, goddess of the hunt...the beautiful yet testy twin of Apollo.

Emily and Abby are part of an organization called American Heritage Girls...think Girl Scouts only Christ centered...they were looking at fashion through out American history and each young lady had to dress in a costume respresentative of a specific decade.
Emily wore clothing typical of 1700-1710

Abby showed off what all the girls were wearing in 1900-1910...

We want to give a very special, HUGE thank-you to Grandma for her time and effort on the costumes...the girls wouldn't have been nearly as nicely dressed if it weren't for her loving heart and super sewing skills :-)
