To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

Yesterday was a special day...the girl's were home from school and we delighted in spending the day together. Rob still had to go to the church for a little while but we started off our day with a yummy family breakfast of eggs and biscuits & gravy. We realised that eating breakfast in the morning together as a family is indeed a rare event...we eat breakfast for dinner at least every other week...but actually eating it in the morning together? This was something special :-)

The kids and I then spent a few hours tromping around the Aracdia Mill Site in Milton. The mill site is the first and largest Early American water-powered industrial complex in Florida. We pretty much kept to the boardwalk but plan to go again with friends to traipse through the trails soon. We took a large basket and scissors and brought home flowers and plants (and weeds)to create some lovely autumn arrangements for the house. We don't know how long they'll last but we're certainly enjoying their beauty now.
Later on the girls went bike riding and returned with their own bouquet for me that they collected from the neighborhood.

All in all it was a very sweet family day. We are blessed.

That looks like a fun and interesting place to go! Our next AHG's unit is on Our Heritage. I wonder if that would be a good place to go? Let me know!
