To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony.

First Day Summary

Me: Abby, what was your favorite part of the day?

Abby: Coloring. And I didn't even scribble!

Me: Emily, how was the first day of third grade?

Emily: (With all the exuberance of eight year olds with an endless supply of energy)
It was great!

Me: So, what's it like across the hall Sarah?

Sarah: (With all the drama of an award winning actress...heavy sigh...slumped shoulders...)
I'm exhausted.

Here on the home front Claire wanted to know where each of the girl's were first thing this morning. Sam was very curious about Abby being at Trinitas, too.

We experienced a very Sam moment with Sarah's teacher Ms. Barnes. We were getting ready to leave the school and Sam happened to see Ms. Barnes...whom he has never met...and he proceeded to ask about her birthday. When she informed him that it wasn't her birthday he began to describe a party...her party from last year. Pictures from the event are in the yearbook from last year. He also asked about a teacher that used to be at the school and when he found out she wasn't there he wanted to know where her son was. The boy has an amazing memory.

All in all we are a happy, albeit tired, Hadding household.
