She wouldn't cry when she was first born and spent the first 10 hours of her life under a little oxygen tent.
Even as a newborn she didn't take long naps...two twenty minute power naps...one in the morning and one in the afternoon was all she needed.
When she was three she wouldn't leave the house in the morning without kissing the roly-polies good-bye.
Rob would swing her upside down by her ankles and she would twist from side to side...she looked like a human mixer.
Her name...Sarah Elaine...literally means princess of light. And now she turns 13. That magic time when suddenly four little letters at the end of a number word changes everything. Not a little girl anymore and not yet a woman. My little princess, who used to dress up in a leopard print body suit with a pink sequin mini-skirt and ball cap, now fusses with her hair and whether or not her shoes match her outfit when we're going to the bank drive through.
My princess has become a lady in waiting. So much will happen in these next years. My prayer for her is that she will continue to become a godly woman. That she will see beauty as God sees beauty...a gentle and quiet spirit. That she will seek first His kingdom...that she will trust God and do good...that whatever skill she wants to pursue as a job that the idea of being a wife and mother is supreme above all...that she will glorify her heavenly Father and declare His goodness for all to see.
My list of prayers for this precious child of mine goes on and on. So I give her to God...trusting Him to shape her into that polished corner stone cut for a palace. Knowing that His Spirit is at work showing love, mercy and grace to her and through her.
